Old News

February 9, 2018
Well, my other hobby got the best of me--while running at the beginning of January I slipped and broke the wrist of my fretting hand.  Unfortunately this means while I will still be attending Folk Alliance, I had to cancel my showcase performances.  I've been spending this time off writing and should be able to debut some new songs at my first Kansas City performance this year, March 3 at Ollie's Local for Saturday Storytellers!  I'm looking forward to playing this series for the first time.  I'm sharing a bill with Joy Zimmerman, another KC singer-songwriter.  Hope to see you around soon!  Lots of shows added to the calendar, be sure to check it out.  Cheers!

Happy New Year!  The first quarter of 2018 is already shaping up to kick off my best year yet.  If you're attending Folk Alliance International in February, I hope to see you there!  I got the news this week that I will be participating in two private showcases, in the KC Music Collective and Lost Cowgirls Records rooms.  When final scheduling details are confirmed I will add to the show calendar.

Speaking of the show calendar, give it a look - updates through March are listed.
I can't wait to get the new year started!  See you in January, friends.

September 6, 2017
Two weekends ago, I spent 3 days in Music City surrounded by 1400 other musicians,  What a joy to be around like-minded people, learning and networking and singing in the jam room!  While I learned so much at the CD Baby DIY Musician Conference, I left with more than just the knowledge I gained.

When I think about the momentum I left with after last year's conference, it was worth the ticket price.  I left feeling like anything was possible, and in the time between last year's conference and this one, I decided to:

Create a  website I'm proud of (thanks for visiting!)
Record a demo
Release a single on major digital distribution outlets and streaming services
Play 18 gigs, which doesn't sound like much but when I can only play one day a week, it feels pretty good!
Finish four songs that I'm comfortable enough to record
Submit my music for play on online radio stations (and get it played!)
Submit my music for play on local radio stations (and get it played!)
Perform at open mics, a great networking opportunity, literally coast to coast (Seattle, Chicago, Boston, and places in between)

I can't wait to see what the coming year holds.  In the short time since the conference I now have the equipment to record at home, giving me the opportunity to figure out how I want something to sound before I go into a studio (or who knows, maybe the quality will be release-worthy).  I'm reaching out to new venues.  I'm hoping to do a few shows in my home state of WV before the end of the year.  I'm armed with knowledge on how to grow my presence online, write better songs, market myself and my music, but most of all, I am coming into the next year full-speed ahead and hoping to make this one even more productive.

I cannot say thank you enough, because if you are taking the time to read this, you support me.  I do this because I enjoy it, but also to share a part of myself with you, to make you feel something new, to connect with a feeling or experience we share.  Your continued support means the world.

I've been performing what feels like every single weekend this summer, and in addition to traveling for work every week, it's been a non-stop adventure:  open mic nights as far west as Seattle, radio performances and garden party jam sessions in Butte America, and making the most of my time in Kansas City.  I just updated the performance calendar for September and October, so please take a moment to check out the Shows portion of the website for more info.

Want to go to the show at RJ's in Mission on 9/15 for free?  A limited number of tickets will be available to waive the $5 cover charge.  If you're in KC, sign up for my email list and you'll get a free download AND I'll have a ticket with your name on it!
