Erin Eades sings the stories she finds hard to talk about. The way grief is anything but linear, her first full-length album Monsters collects songs written over the course of almost 15 years. Supported by yearning pedal steel, sassy B3 organ, and harmonies as layered as the feelings that accompany their words, modern folk artist Eades takes listeners through the ending of her marriage and the depth of emotions that came with it, addressing themes of accountability, infidelity, double standards, and the pendulum of heartache. Monsters includes seven original songs and one reimagined work, a cover of Mike Doughty’s “Down on the River By the Sugar Plant.” Poignant, honest, and compelling, Eades gives listeners permission to feel by shining a light on experiences that aren’t uncommon - we just don’t talk about them.
